Google Workspace for Education includes different feature versions provided by Google to eligible educational institutions, including the free Education Fundamentals edition and the paid versions: Education Standard, Teaching & Learning Upgrade and Education Plus.

Education Fundamentals edition with basic features and up to 10,000 user accounts by Google, educational institutions using the Fundamentals edition need to upgrade to a higher version with extended features serving for online teaching such as:

+ Classroom Recording feature on Google Meet

+ large class with the number of students participating in over 100 people

+ advanced security features

+ create additional new users for teachers and students.

The Education Standard edition covers medium-sized teaching needs, so institutions using it will need to upgrade to a higher version when:

+ need to create a large meeting/class with more than 100 participants

+ add Recording, Q&A, and Poll features in the classroom on Google Meet

+ streaming (livestream) to students

Google Workspace for Education upgrade options:

+ If you are using Education Fundamentals: you can upgrade to Education Standard or Education Plus or purchase additional Teaching & Learning Upgrade license

+ If you are using Education Standard: you can upgrade to Education Plus or purchase additional Teaching & Learning Upgrade license

+ If you are using Teaching & Learning Upgrade with Education Fundamentals or Education Standrd: You can upgrade to Education Plus

+ If you are using Education Fundamentals and cannot create new users due to the limit: contact an authorized Google partner to upgrade/increase the Google Workspace for Education user limit.

Education Plus version includes a full range of premium features that make online teaching and learning simple and effective such as: livestream in the domain up to 100,000 people, large meetings with 250 participants (and soon to increase). 500 participants in the near future), student information system synchronization with Google Classroom, domain search with Cloud Search, and fast support from Google's support team.

You can upgrade your Google Workspace for Education subscription at any time through your local authorized Google reseller. Paid versions are an annual subscription. You cannot downgrade the version until the subscription term expires.
